Allison Pollock Blog 2

http://www.allbusiness.com/food-beverage/restaurants-food-service/14273623-1.html

1. This blog focuses a lot on portion control, and how several restaurants are making their portions smaller without lowering the price of the dish. Also several restaurants to not may any attention to portion size and it gets larger and larger with no notice. The blog mentions this becoming a huge cost problem for the restaurant in a time when they're trying to cut costs.

2. This blog intends to serve restaurant owners and even chefs to help control portion cost and keep customers happy with what they are accustomed to. Customers do not like going into a restaurant one day and getting large portions, and coming back the next with half as much food on their plates.

3. This blog does meet its goal, it mentions techniques to use to help control portions, and also to help cost control with each portion and each dish on the menu.

4. This blog gives an image of the industry that restaurants are having difficulty's during this time, and they are trying to find ways to save money. By doing this they are changing what customers what and what they are used to which is large portions. This ultimately will hurt satisfaction ratings.

5. This blogger does not have a facebook or twitter account.

6. This blogger is the same as my previous one, he has a history in owning a grocery store and working in restaurants. He is also a culinary consultant.

7. This blog provides tools to help keep customers happy, and what not to do to cut costs. It gives tips on other options besides cutting portion size, and how to keep a steady portion size to control costs in the first place.

Allison Pollock Blog 1

1. This particular blog has really good points when it comes to developing restaurant plants, and how to keep a restaurant open, or to open a restaurant. It goes through several mistakes owners make such as over pricing, paying employees too much, and putting the wrong people in charge. The author says the biggest mistake an owner can make, is keeping the restaurant too long when it is already on its way to failure.

2. This blog intends to serve those entering the restaurant career, and intend to open a restaurant. It is also helpful to those who may need some quick pointers and advise to keeping a business open.

3. This blog meets it goal very well. I have read some of the authors other blogs, and they are all easy to read and right to the point, as this one is.

4. There is no real image of the industry conveyed in this blog, it is more to simply help and inform those who want to begin their own business. If there were an image of the industry I would have to say that it would be that it's harder to open and have a successful restaurant then people may think. Because of this many people stay in the business too long and they get in more trouble then need be.

5. I do not believe this author has facebook or twitter, there is no mention of it on the blog website. He is however available to contact through email.

6. his first experience in the industry was owning a grocery store in his home town, when the original owner though Foley had more experience he decided to sell it to him. today he runs his own website, works as a culinary consultant, and has completed a manuscript about his decade-long experiences that was published in 2006
.

7. This blog provides several tools to cost control in restaurants, it gives several tips on what majority of people do wrong, and how to do them correctly. It tells us what people spend too much money on that isn't necessary and what to do with that money instead of wasting it.

1. Hospitality industry .com covers all areas of hospitality industry. If you want to follow all of them, it is really hard for you to do so. But, they categorize them into each sector so that the readers follow them easily. When you are interested in only hotel area, you can read the articles related to hotel news.Lodging Hospitality has the archives; “Latest News”,” Latest Features”, “ Latest Opinion”, and “Top Reads”. It is easy to follow when you want to know which news is popular.

2. These blogs intend to serve people who want to know what is happening in whole hospitality industry. Since both of them give various information about this industry, it is good for people who want to work in this industry.

3. I think both of blogs that I am following meet their goal. Since this industry should be connected in world –wide view, both of them offer latest news of not only out of the states but also out of the countries. You can gain global knowledge of this industry.

4. In my opinion, Hospitality industry.com has much clearer image of archives than Lodging Hospitality blogs, because the former has categorized the sections simply while the latter has mixed some of their news.

5. Both of blogs have twitter accounts that allow the readers to get timely and simply news from them. Also, their twitter accounts help the bloggers too, because they do not have to inform the same event information by writing long blog right before the event starts. In addition, Lodging Hospitality has a Facebook account too.

6. Both of twitter accounts are exact same as their original blog entry. However, Lodging Industry’s facebook page allows the readers or people who “like” them to comment on their wall and share the information.

7. The authors in both blogs claim to know a lot of news of this whole industry. They convey to the readers not only fun events but also financial news of each category.

Zack Davis Blog Followings

Blogs: http://blog.sixflags.com/ , http://www.the-bus.net/blog/
1. How does the blog convey the archives to an audience?
The six flags blog talks about up coming events like the most recent one, Fright Fest. it also talks about some other event happening that are unrelated to the halloween season. The second blog I am following is more along the lines of coupons, savings and special offers to consider when purchasing your Six Flags tickets.

2. Who does the blog intend to serve?
Both blogs intend to serve the theme park visitors. one of them specializing in the upcoming events at Six Flags and the other having to do with saving money when purchasing your tickets through the use of coupons. for example the Six Flags blog was promoting the upcoming Fright Fest event that they annually hold, and the second blog I am following is offering coupons for Fright Fest.
3. Does it meet its goal?
I believe both blogs meet their goals. The Six Flags blog does a great job of informing the theme park enthusiasts about upcoming events that are going on. I feel that the second blog also meets its goal by promoting coupons and other special offers that will help the theme park guest save some money.

4.What image of archives and archivists is conveyed by the blog?
The image of the Six Flag blog is a lot more colorful than the second blog. I think part of this is because the Six Flags blog is on the actual Six Flags website and they want to do a good job at drawing people to the park. well they certainly have done a good job at this. The blog is colorful and filled with Six Flags images. The second blog is very dull and boring. it seems that no one follows it and the posts are not as frequent as the Six Flags blog.

5. Does the blogger have a presence on Twitter or Facebook?
The Six Flags blog has a presence on both Twitter and Facebook. The second blog does not have a presence on either of them.

6. How is that similar or different?
This is similar because you can use both social networks to get the company out there and attract more guests.

7. What topics does the author claim knowledge of in the industry?
The author of the Six Flags blog knows what is going on at the multiple Six Flags around the country. He gives in depth details about the upcoming events and why people should attend. The second blog knows what savings, coupons and special offers people should be aware of.

Alicia Baldasaro blog post

Blogs: www.thedisneyblog.com/
www.insidethemagic.net/

1. How does the blog convey the archives to an audience?
The Disney blog is very simple and gets right to the point. all the blogs are in the center and they sometimes contain videos and pictures. they are very easy to read, and there are links at the top so you can learn about the authors. Inside The Magic blog is more colorful and has a lot going on the page. They have a section where they preview each article, and you can click on it to read more about that blog. They have more advertisements on the page about Disney.

2What does the blog intend to serve?
The Disney blog intends to serve news to people about whats going on at Disney properties, and sometimes they talk about new movies being produced. Inside the magic does kind of the same thing, but they also talk about theme park events, news, and new things being developed.

3.Does it meet its goal?
I would say they both meet their goals because future travelors can go online and research whats new at the parks, and what has been happening. Inside the Magic has so much to its blog, and you can find a lot about new attractions, and events.

4.What Image of archives and archivist is conveyed by the blog?
For the Disney blog the image is plain but gets right to the point, and its very easy to read. occasionally there are pictures for certain blogs. Inside the magic doesnt even look like a blog; it has so much on it that you have to look for what you want to read. its colorful and energetic, and it makes me want to find out whats the blog has to offer.

5.Does the blogger have a presence on Twitter and Face book?
Yes, when i visited both blogs, they had clearly marked links to connect to twitter and facebook. Its really easy to follow, and Inside the Magic also has a Youtube account.

6.How is that similar or different?
Its similar because twitter and facebook a can run off each other. if you're on facebook you can also tweet at the same time. if your following blogs you can look them up easily on these sites to see the newest posts. You can also get notification on your phone so you can see every blog right when they are posted.

7. What topics does the author claim knowledge of in the industry?
The Disney blog claims knowledge of whats going on withing the parks Disney owns, and also additional news about Disney's new additions to the company. Inside the Magic knows about the latest attractions of the parks all over the world. They both give information about Disney, and know a lot about the company.

Kerry's blog assignment

http://www.pearlseventsblog.com/

  1. How does the blog convey the archives to an audience?

This blog conveys the archives to the audience on the left side of the page. They are shown by month, and go back all the way to January 2007 when it was first started. They also offer different categories such as education, music, personal, and service. This makes it easier for the reader to read the blogs that they are interested in.

This blog doesn’t really convey the archives at all. At the bottom of the page there is a link to go to the older or newer posts, but that’s it.

  1. Who does the blog intend to serve?

This blog is intended to serve those customers who are interested in the Marriott Hotels. This blog offers information on the special offers that are going on as well as updated news and events that are happening with the company.

This blog intends to serve people who are just interested in weddings, or hiring a wedding planner.

  1. Does it meet its goal?

Yes, this blog does meet their goal. This blog is written by the chairman and CEO of Marriott International, Bill Marriott. He writes about the special events that are happening with his company, hotel openings, and what the company does to give back to the community.

Yes, this blog does meet that goal. Aletha has been in the event planning business for over twelve years. Her blog showcases the weddings that she has planned with pictures and descriptions, which is helpful for couples who are looking for a wedding planner.

  1. What image of the archives and archivists is conveyed by the blog?

The archivist for the Marriott blog made it very organized, there are few pictures but the archives are very easy to access for the reader.

There doesn’t seem to be an archive available on this blog for the reader. There is a place where the reader can search for a keyword or specific wedding and it will bring you to that blog.

  1. Does the blogger have a presence on Twitter or Facebook?

This company has three twitter accounts, “marriottintl”, “courtyardhotels” and “Marriottgreen” but they aren’t written by Bill Marriott.

Yes she does have a twitter.

  1. How is that similar or different?

These three Twitter accounts do similar things that the blog does; it mentions the new hotels that are going up, and also the benefits. Twitter is much more interactive then the blog, it allows customers to comment on it with their negative or positive experiences with Marriott International.

Aletha’s Twitter is a lot more personal than her blog. Although her blog does have a decent amount of personal information, it is more about her business.

  1. What topic(s) does the author claim knowledge of in the industry?

The author of this blog claims knowledge of his company because he is the CEO and knows everything that goes on throughout it. More specifically, he discusses the “Loyalty Program” for the Ritz-Carlton customers, the Algonquin Hotel in New York City, and their effort to give back to small businesses.

The author of this blog claims knowledge of the wedding planning industry. She shows her work through pictures so potential clients can see her work.

Blog Assignment - Glassman

http://brillianteventplanning.com/blog/

How does the blog convey the archives to an audience?

The Direct Line Cruises blog conveys the archives to the audience through their side bar organization which allows the follower to search through the archives and they also have a link on the right hand side which says “archived blogs from august 2006-2010” that allows you to see everything the blogger has posted in the last four years. The Brilliant Event Planning Blog does not have anything that conveys and or displays their archives therefore you have to scroll through the older posts to see what they offer; however they do offer about 50 categories to search through on the right hand side of the blog in an organized vertical chart.

Who does the blog intend to serve?

The Direct Line Cruise Blog intends to serve travelers who are interested in going on a cruise, it gives them information about cruises that the blogger has been on and also gives them information about which cruise lines offer most and how to get more for your money. The Brilliant Event Planning Blog is intended to serve couples that are in search of help planning their wedding, wedding proposal, social events and or corporate events. They are based out of New York City so their segment is mainly for people in the Northeast region of the United States.

Does it meet its goals?

I think both of my blogs meet their goals; however the Brilliant Event Planning Blog meets their goals a bit more than the Direct Line Cruises Blog does. Direct Line Cruises does not supply the follower with direct information from the cruises but instead with descriptions of cruises from the passenger view, which is helpful, but not in all circumstances. The Brilliant Event Planning Blog offers a view into the work that the company has done recently and it is also directly connected to their website which is very organized and very helpful in looking for a reliable event planner.

What image of archives and archivists is conveyed by the blog?

The blogs for both convey that there has been consistent archives in the past however the Direct Line Cruises makes their archives more apparent while the Brilliant Event Planning blog has a categorized approach instead of a archive approach which is more suitable for the purpose of their blog.

Does the blogger have a presence on Twitter or Facebook?

The Brilliant Event Planning blog has a presence on both Facebook and Twitter however the Direct Line Cruises blog does not have a presence on either.

How is that similar or different?

Twitter and Facebook are not similar to the Brilliant Event Planning blog because you can only follow or like them on Facebook and Twitter but you can read and view videos and pictures on their blog.

What topic(s) does the author claim knowledge of in the industry?

In the Direct Line Cruises the author claims to know a lot about cruises since he has been on many and writes articles and in-depth analysis of the cruises. In the Brilliant Event Planning blog the author is a prestigious event planning coordinator in New York City so she knows exactly what she is taking about when giving insight into the industry.
